My parents never had swimming lessons. At that time, it was common to either learn swimming by doing it or simply never learn! My father, who is now over 80, has always been afraid of water. Simply because he never learned to swim. However, he did learn me as a kid how to skate on natural ice. That was amazing. Looking back now, we were blessed that the ice never broke.

The swimming castle in Nienoord is currently closed for 12 weeks for sustainable renovation of the pool.
