Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenThe Netherlands is making significant strides within the string quartet genre, with several ensembles receiving international recognition. A recent addition is the Martin String Quartet, which boasts a composing asset in its ranks in the form of cellist Ori Ron. For this program, the quartet posed the question: what is a string quartet? A question explored in every corner, from the complexity of Sofia Gubaidulina to the harmony of Johann Sebastian Bach and beyond.
“The quartet sound conjured up by these four dedicated players is admirable. Very precise and with an eye for detail, the quartet brings out the different voices beautifully,” judged the enthusiastic jury.

Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch Classical Talent (formerly Vriendenkrans Concours and Het Debuut) is a development program for top young Dutch musicians. Among the laureates are renowned names such as Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, the Van Baerle Trio, and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet. Talent alone is not enough to reach the final; participants must bring distinctive and stimulating programs, vision, and a bit of guts. The DCT Award ceremony will take place during the festive final on Sunday, June 6, 2027, at TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht).
