When people think of “heavenly music,” many immediately think of Bach’s St Matthew Passion. No wonder: choir, orchestra and soloists create a fabric of melody of otherworldly beauty. And at its core lies the thriller-like story of Jesus’ condemnation and crucifixion. Betrayal, guilt and consolation are universal themes. The performance is a fixed Easter tradition, but this time something unique awaits us. The conductor is Masato Suzuki, one of the greatest Bach experts of our time. He is a versatile musician who studied in the Netherlands for a long time. In addition to being a conductor, he is an organist and harpsichordist, specializing in everything related to Bach.
