The Stadspark racetrack is a unique venue for major events on the west side of the city of Groningen. The racetrack is part of the Stadspark, which was designed by landscape architect Leonard Springer in the early twentieth century. Every year, the racetrack is the venue for the Liberation Festival Groningen. Many big names have also performed here. Among others, there were major concerts by the Rolling Stones, Rammstein, Guns n' Roses, and Tina Turner.
Events
The racetrack is a suitable venue for large-scale events, such as major (pop) concerts, the Liberation Festival, and folk festivals. Additionally, dance and music events are also organized at the racetrack, such as Free Your Mind, HullaBaloo, and the Rapalje Zomerfolk festival.
Previously, the Stadspark racetrack was a venue for horse racing, where visitors could attend race days. The horse racing track has been in existence since 1886.
Accessibility
It's about a five-minute walk from the Central Station to the Stadspark. Often, during events, tickets are sold for a Park & Walk option.
