Spijs

Located next to the UMCG, on Oostersingel, you'll find Spijs. What appears to be an ordinary, cozy neighborhood café at first glance, turns out to be a welcoming spot for a bite and a drink just outside the city center. 

At the site of the former outdated café De Buurvrouw, experienced chef Ricardo, along with his parents Folkert and Lineke, who also have extensive experience in the hospitality industry, have established a sympathetic and hospitable family business. 

Here, guests can enjoy a fresh meal during lunch or a relaxing drink. The menu includes snacks, soups, sandwiches, salads, and pastries, as well as hearty comfort food dishes perfect for dinner. Naturally, there's a selection of beverages available, including the usual soft drinks and coffee, but also wine, bubbles, draft beer, craft beer, and gin-tonic. 

Spijs is open from Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
