My own love for dogs
Personally, I have a special fondness for setters. The first setter in our home was an English setter named Finn. A beautiful tricolored hunting dog (white, orange, and gray/liver). He was affectionate, stoic, and a huge cuddlebug. Now, in our family, we have an Irish setter named Kai. From a working line, so we won't be showing him. Kai loves exploring fields, using his nose, and is eager to track. And, of course, he loves to run and be outdoors!

Origin of dog shows
Dog shows have been around for many years! If you're interested in the history of dog shows and how breed groups originated, read this article by Ria Horter.
A dog show is an event where dogs are judged based on their overall appearance, important proportions, health, and behavior/temperament.
The goal of dog shows is to assess the quality of the dogs entered in the show.
To achieve this, each dog breed has its own international breed standard. This standard outlines the norms for specific size, shape, and details of the head, pigmentation, color and quality of the coat, movement, and much more.
Judges in the ring evaluate each dog based on the ideal breed characteristics described in the breed standard. This contributes to maintaining breed qualities, promoting health, and preserving and enhancing specific breeds.
Dog shows bring together dog owners, breeders, and enthusiasts. They provide a platform for networking, sharing knowledge, and exchanging experiences related to breeding and caring for dogs.
