Beer Festival 050 in Groningen

For ten years, there was a beer festival in the Martinikerk in Groningen, but due to the sensitive location, it was no longer feasible to organize it. Since last year, there is the Bierfestival050. This festival will be held at the festival grounds of the Graansilo from June 7 to June 9, 2024.

This year, you can enjoy the most diverse beers from all regions of the Netherlands. Last year, there were only brewers from our own North, but this year there is even more to experience in the world of beer.

My First Beer

I drank my first beer when I was about 16 years old, and it was Amstel. Honestly, I didn't like it at all! Now, when I see the variety of choices and flavors available, I realize how much I missed out on in my youth ;-)

I drank it along with a Marlboro cigarette, and at that time, I still had a Levi's 501 jeans size 29 - 32. Nowadays, I don't talk about it anymore, and my friends and I have a kind of silent pact that we don't mention it either. About the size of our jeans, that is ;-) 
 

The beers I drink now are limited to non-alcoholic beers (because beer makes me sleepy) or a nice spicy glass of ginger beer!

But of course, this festival is for the true beer lovers among us, and I won't spoil it any further here. Are you going with a beer drinker but don't like beer yourself? Don't worry, there are also soft drinks available.

During Bierfestival050, you can search for your new favorite beer, meet the brewers, and discover the stories behind the breweries. Bierfestival050 offers more than just beer. Throughout the weekend, various masterclasses are organized, a DJ is present, and there are diverse food options. During the festival, you can enjoy a 2-course dinner at restaurant Graansilo Eten & Drinken, and a special festival drinks menu is available. The Brewers at the Groningen Beer Festival

The various brewers participating include Eggens Groningen, Symbiose, Heft, Graanrepubliek, Frontaal Brewery Breda, Floem Craft Beer, JOPEN Craft Beer, Baxbier Brewery, Doggerland Craft Cider, Folkingebrew, and Graansilo. Practical Information

Upon entry, you receive a glass which you can use to sample one beer. You can rinse this glass on the premises, which is more sustainable if you want to try more beers. The price of a ticket is about €13.50. Of course, you must be 18 years or older (nowadays) and it's handy to bring ID if you look a bit 'young' ;-)
